Japanese Garden
Washington Park Arboretum photos

A trip to Seattle provided an opportunity to visit the formal Japanese Garden in the Washington Park Arboretum on the south side of Union Bay.

This formal Japanese Garden was designed and constructed in 1960 under the supervision of world famous Japanese garden designers Juki Iida and Nobumasa Kitamura. 580 large granite rocks were selected and moved from Snoqualmi Pass in the Cascade Range to enhance the water features and garden.

These photos were taken during the second week of September 2015 following a drier and hotter summer than usual.
