New York City
Touring 'The Big Apple'

A sunny Sunday in July provided the perfect opportunity for a self-guided tour of New York City.  To gain an overall perspective of New York, we began our tour at the Empire State Building. The background of this page is a stylized photo, taken from the top of the Empire State Building, looking toward the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island (top center).

Using a combination of New York subways, taxi cabs and walking, our tour began at Times Square and continued on toward Greenwich Village, SoHo, Little Italy and Chinatown. Food stops included some famous New York pizza from John's Pizzeria in Greenwich Village, as well as Chinese cuisine in New York's Chinatown.

Our tour ended with a stroll through lovely Central Park, and a visit to Strawberry Fields. This area of Central Park was redesigned and landscaped with funds donated in honor of the former Beatle, John Lennon. A tile mosaid bears the word "Imagine" in honor of John's hit song.
