PITTSBURGH - July 4,
2010 - The F2 Powerboat Super League visited the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta on July 4th, 2010.
The SST-120 tunnel boats competed on the ever-choppy and
always-challenging Allegheny River near the Pittsburgh Point, with
the city of Pittsburgh as a backdrop when watching from the North
Shore. An estimated 600,000 people visited the 3-day weekend event.
We captured photos of the competition and the colorful F2
powerboats during race qualifiers on Sunday afternoon.
The final race took place later in the evening prior to the "Flashes of
Freedom" Fireworks Fantasia produced by nearby Zambelli Fireworks.
This year's fireworks theme was "Salute to Heroes."
The "Salute to Speed" Powerboat Superleague North American
Championships, for both the Formula Two and Formula Three boats,
were the highlight of their racing season. These two racing events
brought race boat drivers from several countries, including Canada
and Germany.
