HARMONY - OLD ECONOMY VILLAGE
A tight-knit communal group, known as the Harmonists, established a
unique community in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, known as Harmony.
During the 19th century, they took a lead role in finance and
industry, built the town of Beaver Falls, owned the P & LE Railroad,
and became famous for their fabrics and award winning silk. In 1916,
the site was purchased by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum
Commission.
Today's historic site includes magnificent gardens, 17
restored buildings (c.1824-1830), and over 16,000 handmade objects
including fabrics, furniture, tools and oil paintings.
