PITTSBURGH
"America's Most Livable City"

Photos of the 2010 Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta New!

Gateway to the West and steel center of the world. Named for William Pitt by Gen. Forbes after the fall of French Fort Duquesne in 1758. Laid out as a town by John Campbell in 1764. Incorporated as a city, 1816.

THE IGLOO
Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh Pa
CIVIC ARENA AGAIN

Known as the Civic Arena once again (after the Mellon Arena naming rights expired in 2010) this domed structure was state of the art when it opened in 1961, with some calling it the 8th wonder of the world due to a mechanical stainless steel roof that opened for fair weather events. Attending a concert there, and seeing that dome open to starry night skies, was in itself the memory of a lifetime. Just like Pittsburgh's former Three Rivers Stadium, many fond Pittsburgh memories will linger once The Igloo is finally gone.
